Best High Schools in Vaughan (2025 Rankings & Guide)

10/01/2025 by alexander

Top Vaughan Secondary & High Schools

If you’re looking for the top Vaughan secondary & high schools, rank against one another, look no further. And if you’re looking for elementary to secondary schools, don’t worry we got you covered here. We know that choosing a school is stressful, but luckily we’ve got all of this information to make it easier on you.

The rankings here come from the Fraser Institute, an organization that’s been assessing public school performance in Ontario for 20 years. We encourage you to look at each individual school’s performances when comparing them with one another as well – because sometimes low scores can be a product of factors like teaching special needs students or taking on more enrollees who speak languages other than English (which means their exam results won’t always compare). While these fluctuations may not indicate lower quality education altogether across town at your target location; rather just particular instances within specific classrooms.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

Woodbridge College

Woodbridge College, originally opened in 1958 as Woodbridge High School, has a long-standing history of serving the community of Woodbridge. In 1991, following a decline in enrolment, the school was re-established as Woodbridge College, initially designed as an academy school offering an alternative program for students across York Region. At that time, students wore uniforms, committed to a prescribed curriculum that included physical education up to Grade 12 and French up to Grade 11, and signed a letter of commitment upon enrolment.

As curriculum reforms and housing growth in the community reshaped student needs, Woodbridge College evolved once again, becoming a neighbourhood secondary school serving students in Grades 9 through 12. Today, it offers the same diverse and comprehensive programming as other Ontario secondary schools while continuing to build on its strong traditions.

Tel.:   (905) 851-2843
Address: 71 Bruce St, Woodbridge, Ontario

Proudly represented by the Wyvern as its mascot and guided by the motto “Excellence through Commitment,” Woodbridge College fosters a culture of perseverance, growth, and community spirit.

The school underwent major renovations between 2001 and 2003, expanding the cafeteria, library, and main office, and adding 14 new classrooms to meet the needs of a growing student body. Its facilities now include modern science and computer labs, an art lab, film and media studies lab, drama studio, photography lab, communication technology spaces, music rooms, and a resource centre. Students also benefit from athletic amenities such as a gymnasium, weight room, outdoor fields shared with the City of Vaughan, and a baseball diamond, supporting both physical education and extracurricular activities.

With its blend of rich history, updated facilities, and a strong sense of identity, Woodbridge College continues to provide students with a supportive learning environment that values academic achievement, creativity, and personal growth.

Great. Now that I know which schools are the best, how do I know which one is right for my kids?

Assessing Schools

The Ultimate Guide to the Best Vaughan Secondary & High Schools

The best way to figure out if a school is right for your children is to visit the campus and speak with the staff and students. By speaking with people who are already associated with the school, you will get a better idea of what it is like to attend. Additionally, take a tour of the campus so that you can see the facilities and get an idea of how large the school is.

Extracurricular Activities

The best way to find the right school for your children is to look at the extra-curricular activities. This will help you differentiate between students with the same exam results. Therefore, it may be a good idea to find a school that offers after school activities. These activities can include music, art, dance, sports, drama, academic teams and clubs. These activities will help your child’s education, social skills and health. They will also be very attractive activities for university applications.

School Boundaries

During your research, it’s a good idea to verify the school coverage as it may change from time to time. For the York Region District School Board, you can check here. Incase you’re interested in the Catholic schools, you can verify the boundaries here.

Vaughan Secondary & High Schools Summary

The York District School Board and the York Catholic District School Board have a great school program. When you are looking at different schools and their performance scores, it is important to keep in mind that there could be a number of reasons for low marks. For example teaching special needs students or taking on more enrollees who speak languages other than English might explain why some classes did not do well overall but this would only apply within those specific classrooms so don’t assume all “bad” magnet programs offer lower quality education everywhere.
