History of Angus Glen
The captivating story of the Angus Glen Markham neighbourhood revolves around Arthur Stollery, a well-known mining executive who was determined to forge his own path separate from his father, Frank Stollery, a renowned clothier in Toronto. Frank’s famous Stollerys store was located at Bloor and Yonge Streets until it was demolished in 2015 to make way for a condominium. Seeking a new venture, Arthur purchased a farm at Kennedy Road and Major MacKenzie Drive with the intention of raising Black Aberdeen Angus cattle and championing thoroughbreds.
This farm, known as Angus Glen Farm, thrived and expanded to cover an impressive 1800 acres. In 1992, Arthur transformed the farm into a golf course while preserving some of the original farm buildings as picturesque backdrops. Tragically, Arthur passed away in 1994 before the completion of his vision. However, the Stollery family stepped in to finish what he started, and thus Angus Glen Golf Club officially opened its doors in 1995.
