History of Aurora Grove
The southern area of Aurora Grove was initially inhabited in 1798 by Captain William Graham, a United Empire Loyalist who received 400 acres of land as a reward, for his service to the Crown, during the American Revolution.
Captain Grahams land consisted of lots 76 and 77. Moving north from Grahams lots we find Frederick Smith, who settled here in 1797 on lot 78. Charles Fathers settled on lot 79 in 1797 while Ebenezer Britton settled on lot 80 in 1805. The northern half of what’s known as Aurora Grove belonged to Whitchurch Township until it became part of the Town of Aurora in 1970.

The Aurora Shopping Centre, situated at 14800 Yonge Street boasts an array of merchants, including a supermarket. Meanwhile Smart Centres Aurora, at 14760 Yonge Street is home to establishments, like Winners and State & Main Kitchen & Bar.
Aurora Grove
Aurora Grove can be found to the east of downtown Aurora Village. It’s a neighbourhood that prioritizes families, with schools and plenty of trails and bike paths.
The streets, in this area have a layout. The terrain is quite hilly. The southeastern part of the neighbourhood has been developed recently. It’s a community since shopping areas and community centres are situated around the edges of the neighbourhood.

Aurora Grove Homes
Most of the houses, in Aurora Grove were constructed during the 1970s, 80s and 90s. The architectural style of these homes reflects the trends of that era showcasing Neo Colonial designs, with brick exteriors gabled roofs facing the street and attached garages at the front. Additionally there are newer estate homes located in the part of the neighbourhood that were built in the 2000s. These homes boast entranceways with porticos and double car garages integrated into their design.
