History of Aurora Northeast
The British Crown conducted a survey of this region in 1802. The initial group of settlers consisted of United Empire Loyalists who were granted 200 acre plots of land as a token of appreciation, for their loyalty to the Crown. Before receiving ownership rights settlers had to construct houses fence off 10 acres for farming and clear their land where it met a side road or concession.
In 2010 Aurora Northeast embarked on a direction as it transformed from an area into a mixed use neighbourhood. This change was set in motion when the Aurora Town Council approved the 2C Secondary Plan, which was later endorsed by the Ontario Municipal Board in 2011. This plan serves as a guideline for development in the Aurora Northeast neighbourhood. Encompasses various aspects such, as housing, infrastructure, employment opportunities and environmental considerations.
Lifestyle
St. Johns Centre, situated at the intersection of Wellington and Bayview, on 7 25 William Graham Drive is a shopping plaza designed to cater to the community. It offers a variety of shops along with amenities such, as a walk in medical clinic, pharmacy, dentist, dry cleaner, convenience store and even a veterinarian.
Aurora Northeast
The Aurora Northeast area is going through a transformation shifting from a rural, to a neighbourhood. Its located on the outskirts of the Oak Ridges Moraine, which adds to its charm. Once fully developed it is expected to become to around eight to nine thousand residents.
The majority of construction will be focused on the side of Leslie Street. These residential areas are surrounded by plenty of spaces, including protected areas, local parks and walking trails. On the side of Leslie Street extending towards Highway 404 there will be a business park that will offer numerous job opportunities for the residents.
Aurora Northeast shares its border with the Town of Newmarket while the Town of Whitchurch Stouffville lies to its east. Highway 404 forms the boundary. Provides convenient access for commuters connecting to other major highways, in the area.
