History Of Baldwin, Georgina
Baldwin came into existence as a village in the 1800s due to a successful mill that ran along the Black River. The initial two Baldwin Mills were unfortunately destroyed by fire. However the third mill, owned by William Heise was moved from Keswick to its location in 1879. Although it stopped operating in 1968 the mill remains intact. Serves as a local landmark. Baldwin experienced its peak in the 1800s when it served as a stop on the Lake Simcoe Junction Railway.
