History of Cornell Markham
Cornell was designated as a neighbourhood, in the Greater Toronto area that embraced the principles of urbanism. Cornell served as an experiment in neighborhood planning for the City of Markham. It has undeniably achieved great success. In fact many of Cornells ideas have been incorporated into neighbourhoods across the GTA.
The establishment of Cornell can be traced back to 1999 when officials from Markham City decided to honour William Cornell, who settled in Markham around 1800.
