History of Nobleton King
The village of Nobleton traces its roots back, to around 1812 when it was established as a settlement. It was christened in tribute to Joseph Noble, who operated a store on the corner of lot 5 concession 9. Several of the settlers of Nobleton are honored through street signs or plaques displayed on designated heritage homes. Among these houses is the striking red brick Hambly House, a Victorian estate with a prominent central tower located at the intersection of Hwy 27 and King Rd.
The early inhabitants of Nobleton came from parts of Europe and North America including England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Germany and the United States. These diligent individuals made use of the resources surrounding them by establishing sawmills and other complementary businesses. Education held significance in the communitys values evident through the presence of a two room schoolhouse in Nobleton. With several churches serving as pillars within this faith based community structures like St. Albans Anglican Church (circa 1845) still stand today.
The foundations for present day Nobleton and much of its infrastructure were laid down during the period spanning from the 1950s to the 1960s. Over time Nobleton has experienced growth evolving from a rural area into a commuter suburb, with an active downtown core that is increasingly appealing to families seeking residence.
