Regal Heights, Toronto

The Regal Heights community is located on the edge of the Davenport escarpment. It is known for its features such as historic houses from the early 1900s, picturesque streets shaded by trees and a high vantage point on the Davenport escarpment that provides residents with stunning views of the Toronto skyline.

History Of Regal Heights, Toronto

Regal Heights was established in 1818 by an Irishman named Bartholomew Bull from Tipperary County. Bull played a role in constructing Davenport Road originally known as “Bulls Road.” His second residence, Springmount, built in 1830 was the brick building in York Township. Draws attention for its novelty. 

The name “Springmount” was inspired by a waterway that once meandered down the Davenport escarpment near the Bulls home. The Bull family owned Springmount until it was sold to developers in 1910. 

Today the legacy of Springmount lives on through Springmount Avenue, a street, within the Regal Heights community.

Regal Heights sits on the outskirts of the shopping hub known as ïCorso Italia’ on St. Clair Avenue West. It is a neighbourhood, with an Italian vibe boasting top notch Italian dining spots and cozy cafes. ÏCorso Italia’ is also famous, for its fashion boutiques and accessory shops.

Certain larger dwellings in Regal Heights have been transformed into multiple unit residences.
