History of Thornhill Vaughan
The Thornhill Vaughan neighborhood sits on the border of Toronto running alongside the side of Yonge Street. It includes Patterson, Beverley Glen, Uplands, Crestwood. Springfarm. Yorkhill and Glenshields communities. On the side of Yonge Street lies Thornhill Markham. Thornhills growth and development can be attributed to factor:
- The establishment of Yonge Street as a transportation route.

Benjamin Thorne’s Mills
After the end of the War of 1812 there was a wave of immigration that occurred. One individual who arrived in 1820 Benjamin Thorne played a role in this period. Thorne established a warehouse, in York that specialized in exporting grain and importing iron. Following this he and his brother in law William Parson submitted a request for a post office. The request was granted after resulting in the village being renamed Thornhill with William serving as its postmaster.
By 1830 Thorne had expanded his operations to include services across industries such as farming, distilling, millwrighting, blacksmithing, harness making, running shops, tanning leather, weaving fabric and operating sawmills among others. Sixty six years later came the introduction of electric street railways which significantly improved both speed and convenience for transportation. For the time ever it became feasible to reside in Thornhill while working in Toronto. In the 1920s automobiles gained popularity as a means of transportation for people which further facilitated travel, along Yonge Street.
Thornhill Vaughan Today
As of 2016 Thornhill Vaughan and Markham had a population exceeding 112,000 residents. This neighborhood boasts a variety of establishments including florists, coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and multiple grocery stores.
Thornhill is also fortunate to have three facilities; Thornhill Medical Centre, Shouldice Hospital and the Thornhill Endoscopy Centre.
Furthermore the community benefits from the presence of two school boards: York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board.
Thornhill boasts parks and recreational facilities along, with a library. It is renowned as one of the neighborhoods in Vaughan and Markham attracting many upper middle class families. The area is also known for its car dealerships, like Hyundai, Mercedes, BMW, Royfoss and others that are highly sought after by residents.
Transit

You can take advantage of the proximity, to 4 rail transit stops Rutherford GO, Langstaff GO, York GO and Finch Station. Additionally there are 728 street level stops in the area making commuting hassle more accessible, than before.
