In the 1800s, the Trinity Bellwoods area belonged to Captain Samuel Smith as part of his land tract called ‘Gore Vale.’ The name ‘Gore’ was a tribute, to Lieutenant Governor Francis Gore while ‘Vale’ symbolized the ravine that now stands as Trinity Bellwoods Park.The southern section of Gore Vale later became the premises of Trinity College which gives this community its name.Trinity College was constructed in 1852 at the location of Trinity Bellwoods Park.
